Is inclusive hiring the future of work? | Joe Kenner on The Conscious Capitalists Podcast

Podcasts

Greyston President & CEO, Joseph Kenner chats with Timothy Henry and Raj Sisodia of The Conscious Capitalists podcast about inclusive hiring and the future of work:

Open hiring is the very simple, again, profound model for bringing folks into the workforce where you just put your name on a list and when the next job becomes available, you get it. But it’s really, it’s for people that are looking for hope. People that are looking to say, I’ve been turned down from every job. You hear this from our bakers all the time — ‘I didn’t have enough experience.’ ‘I wasn’t male enough.’ I’ve heard that before. Or ‘I didn’t know how to interview’ whatever it might be. I always say, we don’t give people a second chance, we give people a chance. We give them an opportunity, and you hear that all the time from our bakers. Open hiring opens that door. And it’s just a matter of saying, have I resolved that I want to be successful? Do I want to work? If the answer is, yes, put your name on the list. When that job becomes available, you get it. No questions asked, no background checks. We don’t do interviews. It’s an amazing model for bringing all types of folks that are on the sidelines in this economy.
