Greyston Receives NYSABPRHAL Corporate Award for Commitment to Minority Communities

Inclusive Economy

We are proud to announce that Greyston has been recognized with the Corporate Award by the New York State Association of Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic & Asian Legislators, Inc. This award acknowledges Greyston’s commitment to stimulating the development of commerce and services in minority communities and creating employment opportunities for those often overrepresented in the ranks of the unemployed.

Yonkers is a diverse city with a population that is 40% Hispanic or Latino, nearly 20% Black or African American, and 6% Asian. As an organization that operates in this community, Greyston is keenly aware of the challenges and needs of the people it serves. Greyston play’s an impactful role in creating jobs and career paths and providing services necessary for the stability and growth of individuals and the community.

At Greyston, social justice and community development are fundamental to our mission. Through our Open Hiring® model, Greyston provides job opportunities to individuals who face barriers to employment, such as lack of education, experience, or involvement with the justice system. Greyston also invests in its employees’ personal and professional development, providing them with resources and training to succeed in their roles and advance their careers.

“We are especially humbled to receive this award as Black History Month comes to a close. We are reminded of the many contributions Black people have made to our society, and we are honored to be part of a community that celebrates and uplifts these contributions,” said Greyston CEO Joseph Kenner.

The Corporate Award recognizes Greyston’s efforts in creating an equitable and just society for all. As a certified B-Corp organization, Greyston has demonstrated its commitment to meeting rigorous social and environmental performance standards, accountability, and transparency. By using business as a force for good, Greyston continues to empower individuals and communities to achieve their full potential.

We extend a heartfelt thanks to Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins for presenting this award to Greyston and for her tireless advocacy for Black and minority communities. We look forward to continuing our work in collaboration with community partners to create a brighter future for all.
