B Corp Certified
GREYSTON BAKERY – BEST FOR THE WORLD!

Greyston Bakery is a proud member of the certified B Corp community. We’ve been rated “Best for the World” by B Lab every year since 2013, a recognition given to the top 5% of B Corps worldwide. The B Corp model provides best-in-class standards and processes that help us stay on track with our mission. Our bakery is proof that a business can be profitable while also addressing societal and environmental issues at the same time.
WHAT IS A B CORP?
A B Corp is a company focused on using the power of business as a force for social, environmental, and economic good. Certification comes from a thorough evaluation by B Lab. B Corp certification is to business what Fair Trade certification is to cocoa or sugar. Certified B Corps are part of a community working toward being the best in the world and being the best for the world.
WHY DOES BEING A B CORP MATTER?
Being certified B Corp aligns our business model with our overall mission and vision. Through the power of business, it drives social and environmental changes to improve the human condition in our community. It holds us accountable for monitoring and benchmarking our performance against our goals as the company grows and evolves.
HOW DID GREYSTON BECOME B CORP CERTIFIED?
In June 2008, Greyston was among the first few businesses to become certified in New York State. Companies’ must meet the performance requirement by completing the B Impact Assessment, which assesses its overall impact on its workers, suppliers, community, and the environment. The company must earn a reviewed minimum score of 80 out of 200 points and then sign the Term Sheet and B Corp Declaration of Interdependence.
WHO ARE THE B CORPORATIONS?
Today, more than 1,400 Certified B Corps from more than 120 industries in nearly 50 countries are working together toward one unifying goal: to redefine business success. Some of our favorites include: Rhino Foods, Ben & Jerry’s, and Cabot Cheese.
IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A B CORP AND A BENEFIT CORPORATION?
Yes! Both B Corps and Benefit Corporations are leaders of a global movement to use business as a force for good. The critical difference between the two is that Benefit Corporations self-report performance standards. In contrast, B Corps are assessed and scored by the nonprofit B Lab. We’re proud to be both.
