With a diverse portfolio of customers, Greyston Bakery sells to retail grocery, C-store, airlines, and food service among others. Along with the Greyston mission, we offer great tasting brownies and need to be experts in food trends. So the innovation team took to the streets to kick off 2020.
The first stops included current customers and experimental dessert, candy, and chocolate shops. 2020 trend alert – it’s all about presentation! Bon-bons and caramels were used as vehicles for the latest experimental flavors, like Kalamansi, black sesame, and tamarind, or more mainstreaming items like matcha, speculoos, pecan pie, and s’mores. Then a visit to the Museum of Ice Cream, a multi-sensory interactive installation that revolves around frozen desserts. This female-owned museum also touts themselves as “a culturally inclusive environment and community, inspiring human connection through the universal power of ice cream.”
Overall, the trend trek showed the team that the Greyston Bakery 2020 flavor strategy is very much aligned to the real world trends. The next step is to take these learnings to our customers so we can partner to bring creations to life and win in the marketplace!
