welcome to greyston! WHO WE ARE Greyston Foundation is a national model for comprehensive community development. Recognized as a pioneer in “social enterprise,” Greyston uses entrepreneurship to solve the problems of the inner city and reduce reliance on external funding sources. Greyston programs reach 2,200 community members annually. Greyston Bakery, the first of Greyston's enterprises, began in 1982. The Bakery is a for-profit business which has a double bottom line, meaning that we measure our success based on creating positive social impact as well as by generating a profit. At Greyston Bakery, “we don’t hire people to make brownies, we make brownies in order to hire people.”
Greyston Bakery recently became New York State's 1st Benefit Corporation, cementing our commitment to our double-bottom line.
